Ethics code

To ensure the integrity of the construction and dissemination of scientific research, the Revue des Plateformes Numériques applies the ethical rules set out in this charter. We urge our committee members, authors and reviewers to respect them.

This document draws on the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity drawn up by ALLEA, the opinions of the CNRS Ethics Committee (Comets, whose guide Pratiquer une recherche intègre et responsable and Charte nationale de déontologie des métiers de la recherche were consulted), documents produced by the Committee for Open Science, and the charters of other journals.

Ethical commitments made by committee members

Review quality

The committees are committed to guaranteeing the scientific quality of the journal, in particular through the rules set out below.

The Scientific Committee is committed to scientific oversight and has an essentially advisory role.

The names and affiliations of current and former committee members are listed on the journal's website, together with their areas of scientific specialization.

Relationship with readers

The editorial board undertakes to respond to readers' requests or complaints.

Relationship with authors

Authors' articles are selected, with benevolence, on their scientific or intellectual content alone, without distinction of origin or nationality or citizenship, sex or gender or sexual orientation, religious convictions or non-convictions, academic affiliation or political philosophy of the authors.

In its decisions, the editorial board takes account of legal requirements concerning defamation, copyright infringement and plagiarism.

Relationship with evaluators

The editorial committee guarantees the anonymity of the evaluations.

Personal data protection

The magazine undertakes not to disclose personal data and not to store it beyond the legal retention periods, in compliance with the General Regulation on the Protection of Personal Data (RGPD).

Unethical publishing behavior

The editorial board is committed to identifying and preventing any unethical behavior.

The editorial board undertakes to publish corrections in the form of erratums, explanations and apologies, if necessary.

Procedure in the event of unethical publication behaviour

Any person may lodge a complaint at any time with the magazine's editorial board, denouncing a practice that is contrary to publication ethics.

The person lodging the complaint must provide the elements justifying the complaint. All complaints are taken into account by the editorial board and processed to conclusion, regardless of the date of publication of the article concerned. The documents relating to the processing of the complaint are then kept by the editorial board.

Ethical commitment by evaluators

Scientific objectivity

Reviewers who agree to take on a manuscript do so with an undertaking to do so objectively, and must recuse themselves if they feel they are unable to do so.

Plagiarism or suspected plagiarism in all or part of the manuscript

Reviewers are asked to inform the journal management of any publications they are aware of that are similar to the manuscript submitted for review.

Evaluation capacity

Any reviewer who knows that he or she is not qualified to review a manuscript, or who knows that he or she will not be able to do so within the deadlines set by the journal, must notify the editorial board and recuse him or herself.

Conflict of interest

Reviewers must recuse themselves in the event of a conflict of interest, even a supposed one, with an author or with the content of the manuscript submitted to them.

Impartial assessment

Manuscripts are evaluated, with benevolence, on their intellectual or scientific content alone, without distinction of origin or nationality, or sex or gender or sexual orientation, or political affiliations, or religious convictions or non-convictions of the authors.

Contact with the authors

There should be no direct communication between reviewers and authors during the review and before publication of the final manuscript by the journal.

Ethical commitments made by the authors

Originality and plagiarism

Authors guarantee the originality of their article and undertake not to publish any text which, in any form whatsoever, could be construed as counterfeiting as defined in France by the Intellectual Property Code. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate declarations are contrary to the ethics of scientific publication and are therefore unacceptable. The Compilatio anti-plagiarism software is used by the journal for this purpose prior to evaluation.

Multiple, redundant or simultaneous publications

Authors agree not to submit an article that has been previously published in another journal, and also agree not to submit their article to several journals at the same time.

References

All quotations (or use of work by other authors) must be identified as such and accompanied by appropriate references, presented according to the standard adopted by the journal (APA).

Authorship of the manuscript

The list of authors should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception of the manuscript submitted to the journal. Each author should be listed, with affiliation, in alphabetical order.

Defamatory or insulting statements

Authors undertake not to go beyond the rules of scientific debate in the articles they submit, and not to make defamatory or insulting statements that could be construed as an attack on the reputation of a third party.

Conflict of interest

Authors undertake to disclose any potential conflicts of interest, particularly professional or financial. Authors undertake to declare all sources of funding directly or indirectly related to the research project of which their article is a part, so that the readership is fully informed.

Erratum

Any author who discovers, after publication, an error or inaccuracy, or a significant change in his or her own work, is required to inform the journal's editorial board without delay, and to cooperate with the board in publishing an erratum, or withdrawing the article if necessary.

Data access and protection

The author undertakes not to disclose any personal data in his article, in compliance with the General Regulation on the Protection of Personal Data (RGPD) applied in France.
